Most Disliked

While The Halfway House enjoys a vibrant atmosphere, during peak times, it can get quite crowded, potentially leading to longer wait times for food and drinks. A few customers mentioned that the lively music can be a bit overwhelming if you're hoping for a quieter dining experience.

Some diners found a couple of menu items a bit salty, highlighting the importance of taste balance in their otherwise superb offerings. Additionally, on particularly busy evenings, reservation mishaps have occurred, though the staff handles them adeptly.

This is a great pub with a wide range of drinks. The food is excellent with a 'home made' feel to it. All prepared fresh rather than from ship-in-reheat as in many pubs these days. Particularly appreciate the Early Bird deals. Staff very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

Amazing! Very busy when we arrived with no booking but was seated in the restaurant by a lovley lady. Service was very quick and the food was absolutely fab! We had a starter which could have been a main meal, main all very different and all enjoyed and to top it off desserts which we shared. Great value for portion size. Will be visiting again.

One of our guests was GF and they were amazed at the choice of food on the menu that they could have. This made for a very enjoyable experience. We booked in the phone as we were bringing our dog too, the girl that answered was extremely helpful and promptly Whatsapped the menu to me so that we could choose beforehand. Food was excellent as was the atmosphere.

Saturday for Six. From making the reservation on the Friday afternoon with Eloise through to last orders on Saturday evening everything was a great customer experience. Arriving early Saturday evening we were greeted with a warm reception from the lovely Eloise (very professional and welcoming). The table in the bar area was ready and waiting. The lads behind the bar suggested a tab which worked well. A good menu (not over facing) with just enough of a choice. Orders placed with shared starters pizza garlic bread and hummus dipped pitta bread (garlic bread a good pick, not so much the hummus). After a short break, the mains arrived in good order. All of our party were very impressed with their chosen meals in respect of quality and portion size. One mentioned the hoisin was a tad salty but not a deal breaker. It was nice to be in a pub that had some atmosphere (a good buzz, friendly feel) and that must come down to the people that work there (front and back of house). There was one hiccup when it came to the bill, being £100 more than expected but that was more comedy than anything else and that was rectified quickly without any fuss. All in all we had a great night catching up, eating good food and drink provided by a great team. I would definitely recommend a night out at the Halfway House Royton.

Had my sister-in-laws wake here. The food was excellent. A sad occasion helped by everything in this pub. Couldn't have been better. Well done to all involved x

A JW Lees pub in Royton, near Tandle Hill. The pub has a large outdoor area with lots of seating. Inside, you have a restaurant area and bar area. The bar area is dog friendly only and was unexpected for a JW Less pub. The menu is not the usual JW Lees standard menu and had a good selection of dishes which would suit all tastes. With homemade soup to a homemade curry of the day, along with a traditional northern dish such as rag pudding and chips, to homemade pizzas and a braised steak with mash. Lots of choices. Very friendly bar staff.

You really can't go wrong at this pub. The food and service is excellent. I am a pescatarian and this pub has a wide range of options which is highly unusual as I'm usually restricted to fish and chips or cheese and onion pie at most places. Being a lovely sunny day we had a coffee outside after our meal on the large and well-kept sun terrace. All in all great value and one we keep returning to time after time.
